When Alice is expected to give up portrait photography to marry into Quebec City’s world of commercial trade, she elopes with celebrated photographer Oliver Buell, who can show her the world.
On a photo expedition through the Canadian west, she finds herself embroiled in the 1885 North West Rebellion, but instead of using her professional skills to capture history-in-the-making, she is relegated to the roles society, and her husband, deem appropriate.
Determined to make a name for herself, she challenges the status quo only to discover a truth about her husband that could destroy the life she’s determined to live.
Will Alice choose societal respect, or will she fight to win professional respect, no matter the consequences?
